A lot of people ask us why we chose the name "Dash" for our business. The answer is actually quite simple. The owner was online one day and came across a short movie that was based on a very well known poem called "The Dash" by Linda Ellis (read the poem here)
The Dash talks about a man who speaks at a funeral and makes a note of the dates that the person had lived. The first date represented the birth, and the last date, of course, the death. In between those dates was a dash. A simple puntucation character that meant something infinitely more complex. The dash represented the person's entire life. All of their choices, their birthdays, their first car, their kids, the way they treated others, and so on.
The moral of the story was simple. Do things that will cause your dash to be well spent and happy. Be mindful of how you treat others. Wear a smile. You never know how long your dash is going to be.
